My name is Ben and I am 23 years old. I have been interested in exercise for as long as I can remember. I first started training when I was 12 years old and got my first set of 3kg dumbbells shortly after. Growing up I played hurling, football, soccer and basketball. Currently I play football for Valley Rovers.
Throughout school I originally wanted to be a mechanical engineer but quickly dismissed this notion (after realising the extent of maths and physics involved!) and instead decided to pursue a degree in Sport and Exercise Sciences, graduating from the University of Limerick with a 1st Class Honours degree in August 2018. As part of my courses work placement I was fortunate enough to obtain a position at the Stellenbosch Academy of Sport in South Africa and spent 8 months there working as an S&C intern. I worked with all manner of both professional and amateur athletes in sports ranging from rugby to tennis to water polo.
In the future I hope to pursue an MSc in Exercise Physiology but in the meantime aim to further advance and broaden my coaching experience. Working with Crossfit Return presents me with an ideal opportunity to do just that and I’m looking forward to learning from this community of coaches and clients.
